Field Security Officer, Tegucigalpa, Honduras

The Role :

seeks a resourceful Field Security Officer (FSO) for its offices in Honduras. Reporting directly to the Security Advisor at Headquarters and working in close coordination with IDLO's Country Representative in Honduras, this full-time position will support IDLO programs in Honduras and will be based in Tegucigalpa with regular travel to San Pedro Sula.

The FSO will be responsible for the security management of the IDLO project offices, specific duties and responsibilities include
Conduct in country risk assessments, the physical security of compounds, residences, ad hoc locations, movement, and information systems;
Draft and review Standard Operational Procedures and ensure of the implementation of these SOPs;
Establish a security awareness training program for all staff;
Develop and oversee the day-to-day conduct of the security management for office, travel, communication, tracking SOPs and monitoring, ensuring preparation of adequate responses to security incidents;
Manage all security efforts in the field to support program activities;
Provide technical security advice for the existing premises, residences and any potential new ones;
Provide security briefings to all newly arrived staff and visitors on mission;
Provide immediate guidance and action in case of emergency situations;
Liaise and advise IDLO Headquarters on all security and emergency issues;
Monitor the local and national security situation;
Provide timely reports to the Security Advisor and Program Manager as per IDLO's internal procedures;
Liaise with local law enforcement, United Nations, diplomatic and international organizations, private security firms;
Work in collaboration, with IDLO security staff and/or contracted security provider, to deliver a secure working environment for the mission;
Assist in setting up IDLO offices; and
Provide logistical support as per directive of the senior representative or HQ.

IDEAL CANDIDATE PROFILE IDLO

seeks a Field Security Officer with a genuine interest and passion for the Organization's mission.

The ideal candidate will have
Education
Master's degree in Social Sciences or related technical fields such as the military or the police academy as well as relevant military or police training courses with emphasis on operational planning Work experience
A minimum of 10 years of professional experience with law enforcement, military, intelligence, public or private security organization and in a similar position for an international organization is required.
At least 5 years of experience working with the United Nations or an international NGO in security management.
Extensive experience in hardship locations is required.
Experience working in Honduras or the Latin American region is an advantage.
Broad-based experience in performing rigorous analysis to produce policies, reports or other operational recommendations that are rooted in accurate data and strong forecasts.

Languages
Fluent in written and spoken English and Spanish is essential.

Specific knowledge, skills and competencies
Demonstrated knowledge of the development of security policies and procedures consistent with operations in a high risk environment.
The ability to develop detailed security advisories, reports and notifications for senior management in country and the Security Advisor at Headquarters.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
A self-starter, able to identify improvements to working practice, make recommendations and implement change.
Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work constructively with several internal service departments.
Proven ability to develop and foster working relationships across a globally based organization.
Proven ability to see through tasks set and deliver results.
Keen sense of ethics, integrity, and commitment to IDLO's mandate.
