Our Head office is located in the Hague and we have country offices and/or representation in 15 countries in Africa, Asia and the Middle East (LA). Our Committee for Safety, Security & Crisis is looking for a Safety and Security Officer (18 hours per week)

The Cordaid Security Officer at Head Office provides safety and security advice and training to Cordaid staff of the Head Office and country offices. He/she monitors the development of the security situation and facilitates on matters of development of safety and security in the areas of policy, management, applications, systems. He/she advices the CSSC. He/she represents Cordaid in external safety and security networks.

The Security Officer advices the Cordaid Committee for Safety, Security and Crisis (CSSC). This CSSC is responsible for strengthening Cordaid’s security policy, procedures and management, monitoring the developments in medium and high risk countries and contributes to decision making on evacuation and proper management of crisis situations.

The Security Officer reports to the Director International Offices and works closely together with the CSSC coordinator.

Your responsibilities
Monitoring, and keeping track of the implementation of the Cordaid security policy, procedures (SOPs), country security plans and contingency plans.
Contribute to adaptation of the policy in view of new insights or developments
Supporting safety and security management at the country offices
Providing safety and security briefings, training and workshops to increase security awareness and alertness for Cordaid staff at HO and Country Offices.
Advising managers at Head Office and Country Offices on security (for instance about risk analysis and the application of the guidelines and incident and crisis management and response).
To monitor and evaluate the state of security in the Cordaid program countries.
Informing and sharing new innovative knowledge on the area of security management policies and guidelines;
Participating and contributing to (inter)national forums and other national and international organizations such as the Dutch Security Network, and EISF (European Interagency Security Forum);

Your profile
At least a relevant HBO (Bachelor) degree
A minimum of 2 years experience in the area of security management within a development organization preferably in a field based position;
Demonstrable practical experience as an advisor on development issues and implementing security management policy and security evaluations;
Familiar with operating in high risk countries;
Good advice- and negotiating skills (knows to tactfully convince people internally and externally, even in situations of conflicting interests, crisis and time pressure);
Excellent proficiency and writing skills in French and English; Dutch and or Spanish is a plus
Competence to work independently with strong organizational skills;
24/7 availability if the situation requires
Able to travel frequently

A gross monthly salary of € 2.907,- up to € 4353,- based on a 36-hours working week, based on relevant work experience (excluding vacation and end of year allowance, respectively 8% and 8,3%)
This position is initially for one year, starting as soon as possible. If successful the candidate will be offered a permanent position.
