Head Of Security , Kenya

Location: Nairobi Kenya

An exciting opportunity has arisen for the position of the head of security at a club in Nairobi.

Job Purpose
Be in Charge of the security of the Hotel and lead in protecting guests, employees and property by maintaining a safe and secure environment at all times.

Job Responsibilities
Patrol areas and check doors, gates and windows for signs of unauthorized entry .
Watch for irregularities (e.g. Fire hazards, leaking water pipes, lights left on, equipment malfunctions, unlocked security doors) and report incidents or problems to the appropriate authority.
Maintain records of employees and company guests.
Maintain a work ticket for company vehicles.
Respond to alarms and check alarm systems.
Observe and report suspects to police, or apprehend offenders when appropriate and detain them until police arrive.
Monitor computer alarm systems, closed circuit television (CCTV) systems
Issue security passes, give directions and make security arrangements for authorized visitors
Check guests and their hand luggage to detect concealed weapons and explosives
Detect and report fraud, shoplifting and other unlawful acts of employees or patrons of business establishments
Provide assistance to the guests and other clients.
Secures premises and personnel by patrolling property; monitoring surveillance equipment; inspecting buildings, equipment, and access points; permitting entry
Prevents losses and damage by reporting irregularities; informing violators of policy and procedures; restraining trespassers
Supervising Security guards
Controls traffic and packing by directing drivers and incoming guests
Completes reports by recording observations, information, occurrences, and surveillance activities; interviewing witnesses; obtaining signatures
Maintains organization’s stability and reputation by complying with legal requirements
Ensures operation of equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements.
Develop and implement the Security Operations Manual and update for use by all on site security personnel to cover duties, individual instructions for each post; attendance; use of security equipment; dress standard; training etc
Assist the Management in drawing up the annual security departmental budget.
Effectively manage and control the security budget and provide accurate information.
Ensure that goods received are as per the purchase requisition and that substandard or damaged goods are not allowed.
Ensure constant supply of water from the water vendors when need arises.
Any other duty as may be assigned by the management.

Degree/Diploma in security management will be a added advantage.
Excellent communication (written and verbal), interpersonal and negotiation skills.
Superior presentation skills.
Excellent team leadership skills.
Ability to work in a multi-function matrix organization.
Be physically fit and of reasonable height desirable for the role of a security officer.
Be able to compose reports that convey complete information.
Be able to demonstrate that he/she has no past criminal record by producing the kenya police certificate of good conduct.
Ability to manage through complex tasks and determine priorities.
Two (2) years working experience in the hospitality industry.
