Location: London
Salary: Circa £50k-£55k + excellent pension and benefits

We are excited to be working exclusively with Tate Galleries. Tate is recognised as one of the leading arts organisations in the world, and exists to promote the understanding and enjoyment of art, and to champion art and its value to society. Tates four galleries attract more than 7 million visits a year. In June 2016 the opening of the extended Tate Modern will more than double the size of the existing Tate Modern building. As Tates Head of Safety and Security you will be responsible for ensuring that Tate has policies, procedures, systems and the organisational capability to ensure the safety and security of staff, visitors and artworks at all Tate sites. Tate operates across four galleries (Tate Britain, Tate Modern, Tate Liverpool and Tate St Ives) and in addition has two storage facilities in London and in Wiltshire. As part of your security remit, you will manage the relationship with Tates security contract provider.

Candidate profile:
You must be a qualified and highly experienced Health and Safety professional and have a security management qualification and fire safety qualification or extensive experience of working in these
areas. In addition, you will have substantial experience of leading on advice and strategy for health, safety and security for a public facing organisation.

A confident and clear communicator you must be comfortable liaising and negotiating at all levels across a complex organisation as well as developing and maintaining external contacts with relevant institutions and organisations.

This is a varied and demanding role which will require you to prioritise, co-ordinate and delegate tasks effectively. In addition to your in-depth knowledge of health and safety and security related legislation, you will also need a good working knowledge of equality legislation and a proactive approach to promoting the principles of diversity and inclusion in relation to staff and visitor needs.

Above all to be successfulin this role you must be adept at building trusted relationships with managers at all levels and supporting them to find solutions to health and safety and security issues which balance legal, business and operational requirements and risks.
