Afghan National Defense and Security Forces (ANDSF) Female Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) Instructor

Requirement Overview :   
Under general supervision, Instructors will conduct CIED/EOD/IEDD/SSE training to ANDSF MOI Female EOD/IEDD candidates. Candidate must have previous training experience in teaching CIED/EOD/IEDD/SSE courses. Training will be conducted at Central Training Center-Kabul (CTC-K) or instructors may be required to travel to temporary training locations throughout Afghanistan. Due to cultural sensitivity in the region the US Army has established a requirement for female trainers to train female Afghan EOD/IEDD technicians. This is considered a Bona Fide Occupational qualification for the position (BFOQ).

WORK HOURS: Work may include nights, holidays, and weekends on short notice. Standard will be to conduct training 6 days per week for up to 10 hours per day while at OCONUS work site(s) and a standard 40 hour work week while at CONUS work sites.

Responsibilities 
AND SF MOI Female EOD/IEDD Instructor will ensure that training objectives are completed on time following established training curriculum and schedules; conduct daily training and actively assist or provide direction to students as required. Instructor will be required to execute the content of ANDSF CIED/EOD/IEDD/SSE courses, to include administration, scheduling, and quality assurance and control.

Specific responsibilities will include, but not be limited to:

Provide all ANDSF CIED/EOD/IEDD/SSE course instruction as directed

Coordinate with ANDSF as they prepare for scheduled training and cross training

Assist the ANDSF in working with the supported units and subcontractors to identify, design and manage the ANDSF CIED/EOD/IEDD/SSE training requirements

Participate in post-course evaluations and continual improvement process

Participate in the development of CIED/EOD/IEDD/SSE training curriculum and development of training scenarios in accordance with the approved curriculum as required

Create, maintain and deliver all required reports as required

Provide post-training assessments of student and ANDSF candidate instructor performance and present feedback during After Action Reviews (AAR) at the conclusion of training

Assist the ANDSF with supervision, administration, and support of students and ANDSF candidate instructors as required

Utilize Train the Trainer (T3) techniques

Other duties as assigned

Required Operational, Knowledge, Skills and Experience:

Prior military, E6 or higher, with at least 4 years operational experience in EOD, IEDD, and SSE operations
U.S. Military qualified Senior EOD Technician, qualified as an EOD Team Leader with experience training and conducting operations in the Middle East and/or host nation
Formal instructor qualification exhibiting expert instructor skills
One deployment as an EOD Team Leader in Afghanistan
Proficient with EOD/IEDD specific tools in operations, build-ups, field repairs, and procedures
Detailed knowledge of current CIED operations in Afghanistan area of operations to provide relevant and responsive advice and recommendations
Detailed knowledge of training processes to counter-IEDs to include operational/tactical and staff/leadership programs
Knowledge of technological means to counter IEDs
Knowledge of technical/sensitive site exploitation, graduate of post-blast course of instruction
Knowledge and experience in Counter Insurgency (COIN)
Proficient with Microsoft Office products such as Word, PowerPoint, Excel
Good interpersonal, networking, and social skills
Must be able to obtain and maintain an interim U.S. DoD Secret Security Clearance
Must be able to obtain a visa for Afghanistan
Physical Requirements/Working Environment
Must be willing to work, live, and travel in Afghanistan
Must be willing to work in harsh or adverse environments
Must be willing to deploy and live on forward operating bases operated by Coalition Forces in austere conditions without regular U.S. PX and Commissary facilities
Must be willing and able to travel outside of protected areas via military convoys or MILAIR, and wear protective clothing and equipment as required. In the conduct of their training contractors may encounter hostile forces
Must be able to walk, stand, and sit for extended periods
Must be able to type using a standard keyboard to communicate through e-mail and various software applications
Must be able to crouch, crawl, grasp or handle objects, use finger dexterity, bend elbow/knee and reach above/below shoulders
Must be able to communicate by voice and ear over telephone
May be required to lift objects whose weight may not exceed 30 pounds
The ability to read, write, and interpret technical data
May be required to respond to a wide variety of operational circumstances, including extreme weather conditions and rudimentary infrastructure
May be exposed to extreme noise from turbine and jet engine aircraft

Desired Knowledge, Skills and Experience:
Recent experience, within last 24 months (Afghanistan preferred) training local nationals
Posses working experience with and in developed countries with local nationals in capacity building
Previous experience working with/using interpreters
Demonstrated ability to understand and work in Muslim culture
Experience working with law enforcement
Involvement with ANDSF on deployed operations
Involvement with training Afghanistan military forces
A thorough understanding of US and coalition military organizations, roles and missions
Combat experience with any of the following: EOD/IEDD/CIED or SSE operations
Curriculum development experience, specifically in continual improvement efforts to determine the efficacy of unit training programs and organizational training principles and practices
Incorporation of Lessons Learned and TTP's
Experience working with C-IED/EOD TADSS, and a practical working knowledge of EOD and C-IED organization and doctrine is preferred
Active U.S. DoD Secret Security Clearance

Required Education:
A Bachelor's degree in an applicable field. 8 years of direct experience may be considered in lieu of education requirement.
