Security Officer , Afghanistan

Exact Job Location: Mazar-e Sharif and Kabul, with field visits to 9 field offices in the provinces of Balkh, Samangan, Paktya, Herat, and Nangarhar.

Reports To: Country Director

Senior Management
As a member of the Country Management Team (CMT), the Security Officer will contribute to the development of the country programme by:
Actively participating in the CMT meetings and pro-actively taking part in the decision making processes
Participating in program planning through area risk assessment and analysis
Mainstreaming security awareness and changes through CMT
Security
Supervise, build capacity and manage 2 national security coordinators and field-based security focal points
Implementation of the Security Framework and Standard Operating Procedures;
Updating and reviewing the Security Framework, Standard Operating Procedures and contingency plans
Member of Crisis Management Team
Crisis management in case of security incidents, followed by investigating, analysing, and drawing lessons from such incidents;
Setting up internal incident tracking system and reporting system with Security personnel
Mainstreaming security awareness through program activities and activities of support departments
Providing capacity building for PIN staff
Continuously assess security situation in current areas of operations, providing in-depth analysis, risk assessments and actors mapping
Providing risk assessment and analysis of new areas prior new interventions will be carried out
Establish and maintain contacts with local stakeholders such as other communities, NGOs, partners, and governmental authorities
Establish and maintain information network to be able to triangulate and provide credible information
Ensuring that proper contextual and stakeholders analysis is provided to team and management of the mission
Coordinating with security managers of other partners and liaising with INSO Afghanistan
Regular reporting of security situation to PIN HQ security department.
Close cooperation with Country Management Team, Programs and Support departments.

Requirements for Applicants:
Education and Experience:

Third level education degree in relevant subject
At least two years of experience with security management in volatile contexts
Experience working in complex and challenging environments desirable
Previous working experience from Afghanistan is a plus.

Strong analytical and prescience skills
Excellent interpersonal skills
Well-developed participatory planning skills and training skills
Ability to work under pressure and remain calm despite setbacks, managing and meeting deadlines
Cross-cultural sensitivity and awareness and willingness to travel to remote places in the field, maintaining good relationships with all members of staff
Empathy with the values of People in Need
Fluent in English

PIN offers:

Starting salary defined by PIN salary scale (approx. 3000 – 3700 USD commensurate with experience including per diem)

Rest & Recovery: Each employee is entitled to up to 15 days of R&R per year in addition to the standard 25 days. PIN provides 2 regional flights per year in price of 650USD for each of them – all together PIN provides to employee 3 flight tickets per year for the purpose of leave.
