The Sahel region has a huge unmet need for family planning, with some of the lowest contraceptive prevalence rates - and highest maternal mortality rates - in the world. MSI has been operational in Burkina Faso and Mali since 2008, in Senegal since 2010 and in Niger since 2014.

In line, with MSI’s global 2020 strategy, the Sahel regional strategy aims to consolidate and strengthen MSI’s presence in the Sahel to ensure that women in region have access to sexual and reproductive health services. Against a background of shifting political tensions and insecurity, the programmes require professional security support and advise to ensure that these services can be safely delivered.

About the role
The Sahel Regional Security Advisor (RSA) is a roving position supporting programmes and Security Focal Points in Mali, Niger, Burkina Faso and Senegal.

Overall Objectives:
• Ensure that the region has appropriate security strategies, systems and procedures in place to maintain the safety and security of team members, assets and reputation

• Provide advice and support to the Regional Director, Regional Teams, Country Programme Senior Management Teams and Security Focal Points in order to ensure that safety and security duty of care is fully achieved

• Ensure that country programmes achieve and maintain MSI’s Global Security Framework requirements. Based in Bamako, Mali, the Sahel RSA has a percentage of their time allocated to each of the four country programmes in the Sahel region. The position is line managed by the Mali Country Director and is technically responsible to the Global Security Team.

About you
A professionally qualified, international security advisor with extensive INGO security management experience in the Sahel region. The successful candidate will be totally fluent in French and English, be comfortable with frequent travel to and residency in hostile environments and be pro choice.
