AFL/ Security Assistant, Kunduz, Afghanistan

Functional Responsibilities

The Security Assistant, under the direct supervision of the Area Manager in Regional Offices, is responsible for the following tasks:
Collate and retrieve security information from a wide variety of sources.
Liaise with UNDSS, UN Agencies, and NGOs on security related matters
Ability to draft correspondence for the approval of the Security Officer/AMAC Manager
Responsible for the filing system
Screen information received on security matters and produce reports as needed.
Supervise AMAC Radio room operators and oversee AMAC internal Security Systems
Supervise security arrangements at the MDD Accreditation Site
Assist in providing security technical advice on planning and asset deployment to mine action organizations.
Assist in providing support services tasks on day to day basis including;
Required HR/ travel services
Managing petty cash account for ROs
3. Monitoring and Progress Control

Keeping up to date records of documents relevant to security department
Assist on effective management of security department day to day activities
All activities are conducted in accordance with UNOPS rules and regulations and are completed in a timely manner

Education/Experience/Language requirements
Secondary Diploma required; Bachelor degree will be an asset, with 5 years relevant experience.
Good understanding of English (oral as well as written) – Dari and Pashto
Must be able to read maps familiar with Geographic Information Systems (GIS)
Familiar with the UN Security System, will be an asset.
Able to work in a multi-national environment with people from a wide range of backgrounds.
Ability to work under pressure, and to work long hours.
Must be a self-motivated person, capable of learning new tasks.
Interested in Afghan politics and current events.
Must hold a current Driver permit
Computer Skills – Proficient with Word, Excel, and Outlook
Radio Communications Skill HF and VHF

Contract type, level and duration
Contract type: Local Individual Contractor Agreement (LICA)
Contract level: LICA 5
Contract duration: 6 months, extendable subject to availability of funds.
