Advisor (m/w) for the implementation of the recommendations of the Peace and Conflict assessment in Timor-Leste


Field of activity
The German development cooperation with Timor-Leste is aligned to the emphasis peace development. In agreement with the strategy document „Development for peace and security“ the BMZ pursues the development cooperation in Timor-Leste a peace-promoting and conflict-sensitive approach. Concerning a stronger adjustment of the German portfolio in Timor-Lesteon peace development it requires the creation of appropriate processes as well as the supply of additional resources and inputs necessary for it on Land level, like exchange of experience of „lessons learned“ and their processing as well as specific content wise support of projects. Regarding the safekeeping of conflict sensitivity and risk management regular updates of the Peace are and Conflict Assessements and the conflict and context monitoring to be accomplished and risk rounds as well as DO-NO-harm-trainings to be organized.

Your tasks
Support of the national co-ordination with acomprehensive integration of the topic peace and security in all projects, e.g. by the organization of the exchange of experience of Lessons Learned, support materials, Guidance and Policy/Practicioner of letter to the topic and by the organization of the regular exchange with NGOs,development partners and the appropriate departments of the GIZ to the topic.
Safekeeping of conflict sensitivity and risk management, e.g. by regular updates of the Peace and Conflict of assessment, regular conflict and context monitoring and by the execution of regular DO-NO-Harm-trainings.

Your profile
You have a final higher education in the field of peace and conflict research, pedagogy, sociology, social sciences, industrial engineering science, ethnology, geography or a similar field. Ideally you have at least 3 years professional experience within the ranges peace development and conflict prevention and can experience with the consultation of EZ-projects with the integration of peace development and conflict preventionshow. Likewise you know the different instruments and defaults of the BMZ and the GIZ within the range peace and security, have experience within the range conflict-sensitive monitoring & evaluation and experience in trainings to instruments from the range peace and security. You have experiences in post office conflict and crisis countries. Personally you are characterised by high stress resistance, ability for teamwork and high intercultural competence in a politically very sensitive context. Ideally you have regional experience, experiences in other subjects area, like rural development, occupation promotion, natural resource management and maritime sector would be of advantage. Your German and command of English are fluent; Portuguese would be an advantage to learn likewise the readiness the local language of the Tetum.
