Position Summary

General Functions
Train, advise and assist the leaders of convoys in the preparation, the conduct of their mission and
communication within the convoy.
Using experience of convoy and escort management in desert environments, help convoy and escort leaders identify context and location specific IED threat mitigation measures.
Train, advise and assist convoy and escort leaders to predict vulnerable points, observe warning signs in situ, and accurately recognize/confirm IED threats, followed by the effective communication of this information within the convoy.
Reinforce the execution of explosive search operations, as learned during training, through the review, reinforcement and implementation of SOP, practice drills, and other practical in theatre actions.
Support the leaders of convoys and escorts in the reporting process and lessons learned.
Assist in the process of reporting and lessons learned.

Other tasks as directed by the Project Manager and Chief of Operations.

Essential Experience:
Education:

Advanced University Degree (Master’s Degree or equivalent) with a minimum of 3 years of relevant experience; or a First Level University Degree (Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent) with a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience is required; or Military experience at the Officer level or Warrant Officer/Senior NCO (Non-Commissioned Officer) with a minimum of 8 years of relevant experience.

Experience:
Minimum of 3 years’ experience as Platoon Commander in Infantry, Cavalry, Engineers or Traffic Control units.
Mandatory operational experience in IED threat environment(s); experience in Africa desirable.
Knowledge in CIED is desirable.

Language:
French native speaker; working knowledge of English is desirable.

Other skills:
Demonstrated capability of rapid decision-making (with little margin of error) under conditions of extreme stress.
High standard of physical fitness.
Proven ability to work in hard conditions.
Internationally recognized driving license.
Knowledge of UN systems and UNOPS procedures as desirable.
