Job Description 
Exelis, Intelligence and Cyber Solutions business unit, now a wholly-owned subsidiary of Harris Corp., Critical Networks, is seeking a An/AQS-24 Technician to deploy to Bahrain in support of our Navy customer. Position will require 2 months of training in Panama City, FL, prior to Bahrain deployment.

The successful candidate for the An/AQS-24 Technician position will integrate into a small team charged with operations and maintenance of deployed unmanned systems in support of US Navy mine countermeasures (MCM) missions in the U.S. Fifth Fleet Area of Responsibility. Position is home ported in Bahrain. Assigned unit mission tasking will support data collection, test and evaluation of prototype equipment, and analysis for mine countermeasures objectives in various harbor areas, littorals and shipping lanes. The small craft employed (11 meter RHIB) Work includes Operating, evaluating, engineering setups, installations, testing, and repair of onboard systems and subsystems. Operations will be conducted from shore or embarked on various Naval Assets and from Forward Operating bases. Tasking will also support fleet Evaluation of systems in the 5th Fleet AOR and assist in associated data collection and development of tactics, techniques and procedures for fleet operational use.
The Unmanned Surface Vehicle (USV), An/AQS-24 Technician is responsible for the corrective and preventative maintenance of all An/AQS-24 electronic and computer systems and maybe required to perform installation, troubleshooting, and repair of mechanical, electrical, and electronic assemblies and systems.

Responsibilities:
• Responsible for the preventive maintenance on SONAR systems.
• Troubleshoots electronics and networks down to the lowest replaceable unit to determine cause and remedy of any malfunction
• Performs required repairs to return unit to operational state
• Troubleshoots network and communication problems to determine route cause of issue and recommends a corrective action.
• Sets up and tests vessels systems to meet specified requirements.
• Recognizes failures and set up problems, isolates problems, and takes appropriate action to resolve those problems.
• Operates test equipment, tools, power supplies, service monitors and test fixtures, and understands their use and function.
• Builds and repairs cabling, to include LAN, CAT5, BNC, and other associated connections.
• Inspects all work before passing on to the next operations.
• Keeps supervisor appraised of all unresolved and/or potential problems that would negatively affect operation schedules.
• Fills out daily reports and logs.
• Provides support to the USV team on all operations, assignments, and work-ups as instructed.
• May conduct detailed experimental testing
Required Experience: Bachelors Degree and 2+ years directly related experience, or an Associate’s degree and 6+ plus years of equivalent technical experience and/or military service school training, preferably as a USN Electronics Technician, Sonar Technician, or similar with extensive background in working with the AN/AQS-24 system.

Strong troubleshooting skills related to local area networks, data switches, routers and relays. Problem solving, strong analog electronics, digital electronics, and computer skills are required. Experience using electronic test equipment, hand tools and troubleshooting is highly desirable.

• Must possess problem solving skills, strong digital and analog skills, ability to troubleshoot in a logical manner.
• Minimum of 4+ years demonstrated experience maintaining and troubleshooting sides can sonar equipment.
• Formal and Documented An/AQS-24 maintenance and troubleshooting training.
• Professional, clear verbal and written communication.
• Must have experience using the following equipment: computers, routers, various networking equipment, and hand tools, such as soldering irons, hand crimpers, screwdrivers, wrenches, and pliers.
• Must be able to exercise judgment within defined procedures and practices to determine appropriate action.
• Generate failure analysis and problem report to supervisor.
• Advanced training in electronic theory such as one would receive at a technical trade school, military training, an Associate degree program, or multiple years of on the job training.
• Minimum 1 year in Bahrain

Clearance Level Required at Start Date: Secret

Desired Skills: Ideal candidate would also preferably have the following skills/qualifications/experience:
- Certified Boat Coxswain- Navy or civilian equivalent
- Networking certification(s)
- 11 Meter RHIB Experience
- Technical School (AA Desired) or Military Service School Equivalent
- Unmanned Systems Experience
- Willing to get underway on Naval Vessels for extended periods of time
- Forklift operator experience
- Advanced knowledge of MS Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
