Oxfam Great Britain’s work in Mali covers a wide spectrum, from direct humanitarian intervention and long-term development work through to leverage, advocacy and campaigns. We seek to integrate these components into a ‘one programme approach’ to maximise impact and ensure the most vulnerable households and communities can build up their resilience to withstand recurrent shocks and stresses.

Your role
You will be responsible for providing specialized advice or specific skills to the country team of Oxfam in close collaboration and coordination with the Country Leader Team (CLT) for all security issues. You will take part in the national and more global security policy matter, which involves collaboration with other departments. You will have to ensure the security awareness and advice of all staff of Oxfam. You will also develop a comprehensive and multidimensional security risk analysis in the country in order to implement and update permanently an adequate strategy of security risk management. You will need to Establish network of contacts with local stakeholders such as government, NGOs, UN, partners, communities to share and exchange information.

What we’re looking for
A person with a large Experience on security issues, planning and implementation of procedures in the context of humanitarian operations of the United Nations or NGO system. Proven skills in negotiation and influencing internal and external audiences, including in difficult circumstances and under pressure. We are looking for someone with good knowledge of West Africa context and Mali security context in particular and ability to advise and assist staff in a consultative approach.

You should also have an excellent interpersonal communication, being efficient and organized. You should have a good understanding of the importance of the gender matter in security and in humanitarian work and development and an understanding of cultural differences and an ability to work in very diverse cultural contexts.A Perfect knowledge of the written and oral french and English are essential.
