Scope:

As a member of the security leadership team, the Assistant Security Manager: provides effective leadership, guidance and direction to all Security Officers and Supervisors; ensures compliance with all standardized safety and security policies and procedures; safeguards the company’s property from legal improprieties and loss; and recommends, reviews and implements Safety and Security programs.

Responsibilities:
•Co-manage the Security Department, providing day-to-day leadership and guidance to all members of the Security team, as well as initial and ongoing security training
•As a security professional, share recommendations regarding security best practices with other members of the leadership team, always looking for opportunities to heighten focus on safety and comfort at Edmonton City Centre

•In partnership with the Central Services Manager, ensure effective teamwork and communication between the security and central services team, so the same voice and message is carried out to both teams
•Assist the Central Services Manager with CCTV investigations, reports, and safety and security training for the Central Services team
•Monitor on a continual basis, tenant and customer satisfaction and attitudes towards safety at Edmonton City Centre
•Ensure that Oxford’s customer service philosophies are met and are an important part of the everyday operation of the Security Department
•Ensure that a respectful environment is maintained for the diverse population visiting and working at Edmonton City Centre
•Complete employer’s health and safety responsibilities prescribed under Alberta’s Occupational Health and Safety Act, Regulation and Code
•Facilitate integration of the Emergency Response Plan outlined by National programs along with the development/updating of site specific corresponding plans
•Ensure adequate emergency procedures for Edmonton City Centre and training of those procedures for all staff
•Perform duties and tasks as directed by the Security Manager, Central Services Manager, and General Manager
•Complete operational and administrative responsibilities pertaining to the mall security functions

Qualifications:
•Minimum 5 years of direct experience in Security
•Minimum 3 years supervisory experience
•Valid license issued by the Government of Alberta under the Security Services and Investigators Act
•First Aid & CPR Certification
•Familiarity with Alberta’s Occupational Health and Safety Act, Regulation and Code
•High school diploma. Post-secondary education in the field of Law, Justice, Security or Policing is preferred
