DUTIES AND REPONSIBILITIES
Under the overall supervision of the Field Security Coordination Officer, the Security Guard will be responsible for the following functions:
  • Enforce entry and exit security procedures for pedestrians and vehicles entering the compound;
  • Manning of the security control room in accordance with standard operating procedures;
  • Carry out inspection and random checks in the UN compound and installations to ensure other guards are discharging their functions properly;
  • Report and advise the supervisors about any potential or actual breaches of security or unusual activities;
  • Prepare and disseminate safety and security incident reports on daily or periodical basis;
  • Maintain radio communication with the supervisors;
  • Brief incoming guards about the safety and security developments when rotating on duty
  • Report fire safety incidents, potential hazards and initiate immediate response to imminent safety and/or fire safety hazards;
  • Respond to emergency calls on fire, hazardous materials (HAZMAT), accidents, technical and medical emergencies;
  • Monitor utilization and functioning of the fire detection alarm system (FDAS);
  • Assist in fire safety and first aid training programs;
  • Perform other duties as required.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
Education: High school diploma is the minimum level required. Supplemental security management or related training is an asset.
Experience: At least three years experience with fire service or civil defense, police or military background dealing with emergency situations.
Language: Fluency in oral and written English, Arabic and Kurdish is essential.
Other Requirements: Must be mentally and physically fit. All duties are performed in uniform, however at times the incumbent may be required to perform duties in civilian clothes. Duties may require long periods of standing and or foot patrolling. The incumbent is required to be in possession of valid driving license.
