Police Advisors

Location : Global

Job Responsibilities:
Responsibilities will cover a full range of law
enforcement and policing functions which will be
dependent upon past experience of
advisors. Responsibilities may include, but not
necessarily limited to:
· Training, assessing, monitoring, advising, and
mentoring local civilian police personnel.
· Ensure that law and order are maintained
using democratic policing principals.
· Ensure that human rights and freedoms are
protected.
· Patrolling, traffic enforcement, reporting,
investigations,
· Assessing training needs and current programs
and proposing new courses.
· Determine feasibility and effectiveness of
proposed courses and identifying instructors and
resources.
· Advisors with significant experience may
interact with members of the host nation law
enforcement organizations, to observe, monitor
and advise host nation personnel on a full range
of law enforcement responsibilities and
capabilities.
· Senior level advisors will function at an
executive level and set overall mission
direction. They may be expected to work closely
with Department of State (DoS), International
Narcotics and Law Enforcement (INL) personnel
and act as liaison with other USG, Senior host
government, and international actors.
Experience & Education:
· Eight (8) years of work experience with a
minimum of five (5) years of experience within a
federal, state, municipal or county law
enforcement service.
· Graduation from a certified federal, state,
municipal or county law enforcement academy
required.
· For senior level consideration, a demostrated fifteen (15) years of progressive experience in police management and supervision will be required.
· Bachelor's degree in a related field or law
enforcement command training through the FBI,
Police Executive Research Forum (PERF),
Southern Police Institute (SPI) or Northwestern
preferred.
· Proven work experience on a civilian police
assistance mission or international police advisory
role, in a multicultural environment, preferred.
· Certified to develop and/or instruct law
enforcement curriculum is highly desirable.

Qualifications:
· Must have the ability to effectively
communicate in English (read, write and speak).
Proficiency in other languages can be desirable.
· Must have the ability to work with Microsoft
Office products (WORD, EXCEL, Power Point).
· Must possess excellent interpersonal and
communication skills.
· Must have the ability to pass medical,
psychological, physical, security, and drug
screening. As required by contract, may also be
expected to pass and maintain physical fitness,
defense tactics, and firearms qualifications.
· Must have the ability to successfully pass a
company background investigation.
· Must possess or have the ability to obtain a
U.S. Passport.
· Depending on contract requirements, must
possess or have the ability to obtain a Moderate
Risk Public Trust, Secret, or Top Secret clearance.
· Must have the ability to perform key
responsibilities under conditions which may
include: limited supervision and resources,
personal security risks, conflicting and a changing
priorities, primitive life support (related to
lodging, food, and HVAC), language barriers,
transportation limitations, disease, etc.
