Key Responsibilities
Ensure effective access control
Monitoring and ensuring adherence to security procedure and standards.
Issuing, allocating and controlling Eskom official permits to authorised persons
Ensuring that the corporate image of Eskom is maintained
Ensuring the application of legal and ethical requirements on access control
Monitoring and ensuring necessary documentation is completed for purposes removal of equipment from the premises
Ensuring the adherence and completion of relevant documentation for access and exit on to the premises
Controlling and ensuring the safekeeping of firearms and ammunition on entry in line with the legal requirements
Support shift operations
Controlling the contractors in patrolling the premises and assets to ensure a visible security service.
Reporting incidents pertaining to guarding and patrolling in terms of applicable legislation and Eskom procedures
Ensuring the securing of entrance to and from the premises at all times
Monitoring and ensuring the availability of personnel for patrolling duties and a reception function per shift under applicable circumstances
Providing alcohol / substance abuse testing on request.
Monitoring and reacting to alarms on substation and offices
Providing escort duties as and when required
Acting as ex-officio commissioner of oaths
Performing on job observation on contractors in line with Eskom standards
Performs Emergency Preparedness
Rendering an Emergency Preparedness service per shift
Providing support in cases of emergencies (access control report, barricading, escape routes, secure buildings etc.)
Responding to after-hours emergencies and contacting relevant stakeholders.
Ensuring total and safe evacuation of personnel in line with relevant procedures
Providing feedback and statements relating to emergencies
Ensuring that the emergency scene is effectively protected
Ensuring that the necessary statements / names / addresses of witnesses are taken for further investigation.
